After months of speculation, HBO executives have confirmed a “Sex and the City” sequel is in the works.

While there isn't an official deal yet, Michael Lombardo, HBO president of programming, told reporters at the TCA press tour, “There is enormous interest to do another ‘Sex and the City.’ In fact, they're trying to put that together now.”

You knew it was coming, since the big-screen adventures of the Fab Four have pulled in $132 million so far. Says Lombardo, “Everybody associated with that project was really heartened by the enthusiasm from fans.”

So what about a film revival of HBO’s other landmark series?

HBO co-president Richard Plepler says of the chances for a “Sopranos” film: “If David Chase [the series creator] wants to do it, we'd be delighted to explore that, absolutely.”

And with the cancellation of David Milch’s “John from Cincinnati,” it would seem he’d have some free time to return to his wild western masterpiece for those two mythical “Deadwood” movies, right?

Yes, it was asked, and yes, the answer is still the same: “Deadwood” is dead. Plepler announced that “David is working on a pilot called ‘Last of the Ninth’ about a 1970s New York City Police Department. I think it's safe to report to you that the likelihood of a ‘Deadwood’ movie happening is slim to none.”

As for the other series missing from HBO’s schedule, Lombardo cites writers-strike fallout: “We got pushed back literally four months on everything.”

“Entourage” and “Big Love” will be back in the fall. “Curb Your Enthusiasm” was not the result of the strike, however. “It was just Larry's schedule,” says Lombardo. “He happens to be acting in a Woody Allen movie right now. He plans to get back to the show [after that]. So hopefully at the end of next year, we'll be back with ‘Curb’ [Season 7, 10 episodes].”

Click here to comment: Should Sarah Jessica Parker and the gang test their luck and do another film? Do you want to see "The Sopranos" on the big screen? Do you still long for "Deadwood"? And who else is in "Curb" withdrawal???

body I was one of the first on the bandwagon. I do think the
nude scene was totally unnecessary. Now that everyone
knows the plot, relationships, and characters we like more new story and less rehash.

body I LOVED the movie as much as the series... You could definitely count me in as an addict that would be at the second one just as fast as the first! I thought the movie was fabulous... Don't understand the drama about the nude scene.... There was nudity in the series also, or were those just my episodes? lol I have never understood why nudity on screen with women is fine, but nudity on screen with men is taboo?? Why?

body YES to the Sex & The City Sequel!!! YES to the SOPRANOS film!!! YES and YES to a DEADWOOD movie? And, although you did not ask, YES to an extension and/or movie for ROME!!! Also, I had a special affinity for DEADWOOD...my grandfather took my brother and me to DEADWOOD in the 1950s before it had been restored to attract tourists! We saw the graves of Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickock, and Dead Eyed **bleep**...at that time the graves were in great decay and one could look down into the graves and see the skeletons! That experience made a lasting impression on me! These were the days before the superhighways and one could still see the buffalo off the highway! A wonderful experience!

body Although I loved the series, and most of the now ended series that HBO does, I was disapointed with the movie for the first half because it seemed too much like a movie! If they stuck to the format of the TVshow it would have been great but, hey, do you think they will? An example was how Stanford and Anthony HATED each other in the series and seemed to just adore each other in the movie. The other was how the men, with the exception of Steve and Big, had no real rolls in the movie.

The characters were very uncharacteristic in the movie so I say, NO.

With Carrie married, how fun could it be anyway???

body Smooks,

'In Treatment' has been renewed for another season, as well as 'Tell Me You Love Me.'

And MissVicki2007, I LOVED Rome too! Would love to see it again in some form but so far, it doesn't look like that will ever happen.
