Elizabeth Reaser, who plays Dr. Alex Karev's love interest on "Grey's Anatomy" has landed her own show. It's a promising hourlong, Friday night comedy called "The Ex List" that stars her as a 30-something woman who is looking to rekindle a "romantic relationship" she had in the past because a psychic told her that she's already been involved with the man she'll be with forever. I caught up with her at the CBS all-stars party in Hollywood to talk about the new show, but also to see if this means the end of Ava/Rebecca on "Grey's."
"I hope not. I really want to come back," Reaser said. "I want to come back and, like, try to kill someone or, like, hold someone hostage. Or put a bomb in my stomach. I just want to be crazy. I love it."
"I don't rule it out, because they didn't kill me. And I would do anything for them to make it possible. I love them, they're the best people, best crew, best fans."
Reaser made an impact in a short time on "Grey's" as a patient who was injured in a ferry crash and needed to have her disfigured face put back together and eventually fell in love with Dr. Karev. It all came out of a mysterious casting and she recalled when she first heard the news about being on the show.
"They wouldn't tell me anything when I met for the role except that I would be disfigured, which was exciting -- especially when nobody knows you as an actress and then you finally get to be on "Grey's Anatomy" and then you're disfigured," she said.
She talked about the difference between being a guest star on a hit show and now having to carry her own show on CBS.
"It's night and day, it's completely different," Reaser said. "That was a show that was already a huge hit and everybody loves it and I would come in for three or four days a week at the most and, like, make out with Justin Chambers. And that was just fine.
"I'm a little nervous because I feel a lot of responsibility. I just want to do a good job, because everybody's working so hard. I want to do it justice."
Check back in a few weeks for our Fall TV Preview, which will include a sneak peek of Reaser's new show, "The Ex List," and much more.
