Ladies,

Most summer days, we don’t feel like being cooped up in a pair of pants. But summer skirts require their own special kind of dressing, to ensure you don’t get lost under voluminous fabric or end up out of proportion. Read on to figure out how to wear three summer staples.

The Circle Skirt

Match these full skirts with tucked in, body-conscious tops, like a knit tee, to define your waist and avoid a wider-looking top. Because the outfit is so simple, you can add a standout piece of jewelry like this turquoise beaded necklace. Strap on a pair of high wedges in a neutral color to make calves look long and slim.

The Maxi Skirt

Add some sophistication to a longer skirt with an embellished tank, but make sure it doesn’t hit much lower than your hipbone so it won’t blend into the skirt’s silhouette. Flat sandals are always your best bet with a maxi, and these add color and a bit more sparkle. Finish with a rough-hewn wood bangle that won’t compete with the shine on your shirt or shoes.

The A-Line Skirt

Tops should be tucked into an A-line, too, to ensure you get the most hourglass-like benefit out of the shape. This sheer top is light and feminine, though we’d definitely suggest a black camisole underneath. Since it hits above the knee, balance out the length with a chunky (almost bootie-like) sandal, and if you’re wearing it out at night, put on gold chandelier earrings for a sophisticatedly fancy feel.
