Do you believe in curses? Brett Favre better watch his back. The 20th anniversary edition of the most popular sports video game in history has been released and Favre is the cover boy for Madden NFL 09.

A curious trend has emerged since 1999 when the game began featuring one of the NFL’s elite players on the cover each season. Dark clouds seem to hover over the unassuming victim in the form of injuries, ineffectiveness, and just plain bad luck.

Comcast.net's Bill Sudell celebrates the release of Madden NFL 09 and The History of the "Madden Curse."

CULPEPPER WAS ON THE BOAT PARTY, RAY LEWIS WAS CHARGED WITH MURDER, NOT CONVICTED BUT STILL. GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. WE CANT ERASE WHAT MIKE VICK DID HE STILL WAS AND PROBABLY STILL IS A GREAT BALL PLAYER. THAT BEING THE CASE THERE CAN BE NO ONE ON THE COVER OF MLB GAMES BECAUSE MOST OF THOSE GUYS ARE DOPING. CAN YOU SAY RICKY WILLIAMS ON THE COVER OF MADDEN 2010!

I think Brett will have a few injuries but that is kind of expected. Someone I know told me that he knew that the game was cursed because John Madden has always been cursed.

body The curse is going to the Jets. I wonder how long it will take before they start booing a hall of famer. Hopefully the 4 on the back of his jersey won't rub off every game from being driven in to the turf
