body Tim Burton, the undisputed directorial King of Quirk, has just released a brand new, extended trailer of his take on C.S. Lewis' classic "Alice in Wonderland" on SpikeTV.
Actress Mia Wasikowska is featured more prominently this time as heroine Alice Kingsley, who falls down the rabbit hole into a wonderland filled with beaming Cheshire cats, White Queens, Red Queens and a dazzlingly colorful Mad Hatter played by Johnny Depp.
It certainly looks like a brilliant adaptation, but does it look too scary for kids?
Sure Disney's 1951 animated classic "Alice in Wonderland" had its own moments of creepy but it wasn't nightmare inducing. However, just from this trailer it looks like there might be plenty in Burton's vision to freak out the youngsters.

Just as with everything, parents will have to decide for themselves whether this film is appropriate. But as usual, I'm sure thousands of the ignorant or absent minded will take kids to this movie only to cry out for refunds when little Phoenix or Hunter gets scared because they're four years old and shouldn't be watching movies in theaters in the firest place let alone PG rated Burton films. Just because something is based on a fantasy novel, comic book, or is presented as an animated film (and yes I realize Alice is live action, so don't bother) does not automatically make it appropriate for kids. One should only have to look back at oh: Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Pan's Labyrinth (seriously), the Batman films, The Brothers Grimm, Watchmen, even James filppin' Bond.... All animation is not Disney; all comics are not for kids; all robot movies are not Wall-E; all furry animals are not cute and cuddly.

Nice catch!! I saw that, too. No offense to Tara Di, who wrote the article, but I find major mistakes on Comcast DAILY!!! Specifically in the Entertainment section. Just seems like there are no fact checkers.
