Colonnade Hotel, 120 Huntington Ave., Boston. 617-424-7000
The Colonnade's roof top pool has been a staple of the rooftop scene since the hotel opened in 1971. It's currently the only public pool of its kind in the Hub and is certainly the highest spot to cool down in the city. The pool is open to the public during the week, and a day on the roof costs $30.
Try: The RTP Cooler, a blend of sweet-tea-infused vodka and lemonade ($8.35). rooftoppool.com

Fresh produce in season is the reason people bring their canvas totes and those little "fold up and stuff in your purse" tote bags, to shop at The Boston Public Market. The market is sponsored by Rodale at Dewey Square (across the street from South Station) . Sample this seasonal commitment to locally-grown and produced foods, homemade artisan breads, local herbs and spices. Even the artists, photographers and craftsmen are local and in season!

We power dreams in our communities. Comcast has been a local company since we were founded over 45 years ago. Since then, our 100,000 employees have been dreaming big to create products that have changed the way people communicate, are informed and entertained. By providing access to innovative technology, contributing millions in financial support and delivering millions of volunteer hours in our communities, we strive to improve the quality of life in all places where our customers and employees live and work.
Our most visible effort is the annual Comcast Cares Day, which this year takes place on April 25. We anticipate that 50,000 volunteers –– Comcast employees, their friends and families, elected officials, and community partners–– will deliver 300,000 hours of community service on more than 400 project sites across the country. Since Comcast Cares Day began in 2001, more than 170,000 volunteers have contributed one million hours of service at 1,750 project sites. Comcast Cares Day is the cornerstone event of a year-round commitment to our communities.

Comcast employees in Southeastern, MA who were unable to participate in Comcast Cares Day last May, were provided with an opportunity to make an impact by sorting and packaging donations collected for needy children onsite at six company locations. The project was overseen by a ten member volunteer leadership team that customized the sorting and packing work and the children’s clothing and gear drives for each call, center and/or technical field management area location. The project engaged 180 employee volunteers from an employee population of 1350 and produced 9 tons of goods donated to needy children through nonprofit partner Cradles to Crayons.
