I understand that dilemna. Almost everyone I know has that as an issue. My son was trying to get through colllege with a pre-existing condition and his premiums were $800 a month without any lapse in coverage and they did not cover much. I blame the corrupt politicians for allowing insurance companies to get away with the things that they pull but they own the politicians. So I have trouble understanding how the Government that is so corrupt is going to make things right. We have seen what bush allowed the banks to get away with and now Obama has allowed them to triple interest rates and minimum monthly due with the delay of the phony "releif bill". I am a nurse so I see what a mess the health care system is and we need health reform but can bought up politicians who behave like criminals that can not be prosecuted do the right thing? They are owned by the pharmaceutical and insurance companies. I am very concerned that any politician can do the right thing unless we have campaign finance reform and everyone gets just one term. NONE OF THEM CARE OR WORK FOR THE PEOPLE!!

I understand that the health care bill is approximately 1,000 pages long. If that's the case, and even if it's exaggerated, why are we not hearing more of the details? Other than adding coverage for millions, which I favor, what are the "reforms"? What's going to happen to make US healthcare more efficient? For instance, are co-ops legislated or just a suggestion? Does anyone think money will be "saved" by accepting people with pre-existing conditions? Yes, I understand the argument. I recently had my 3rd open heart operation, at a cost of $250K.
Over the last year, I've read articles that claim the new law will break the bank. More recently, predictions have been published that claim it will reduce the deficit, while raising taxes for the wealthy. Well, you know, only half of American adults pay taxes anyway, as revealed in a recent report. Does anyone really believe that the wealthy are going to pay for this program without so much as a whimper? What tax breaks are they really getting, in exchange for supposedly footing the bill? Who are we supposed to believe?
One thing we know for sure is that no financial legislation passes Congress without there being some bigtime beneficiaries and some bigtime losers. Why else would there be lobbyists? Wouldn't the details of such be included in the actual language of the proposals? Why is no one coming forward to expose the fine print? Or is it so fine that no one can even understand it? Or is it, as claimed by senior citizens, that they're going to be encouraged to roll over and die quietly?
In regard to a previous post that [Bush's] lawmakers redefined the term usury, increasing maximum credit card rates by a full 50%, I am in complete agreement with the author of that note. Although her grammar and overall accurcy may be lacking, her basic argument that we cannot trust Congress is valid. After all, are the 31% interest rates dropping back to 21% anytime soon? For most of my life, the 31% would have been criminal, in a big way. It still should be.

Oh, I think we need to say yes. If Americans can't count on health care, then how will they ever count on a decent education, and a fulfilling job - a job here in America, not overseas. Too many Americans have gone overseas to make money, and that is sad. Our country must produce once again, and health care is the start. Healthcare, education, jobs!

Do we really need a bill that is nearly 2000 pages long to address this issue. I've read parts of the bill and It contains all sorts of conditions, references and cloudy language to obscure the fact that: (1) competition between the private sector and the public sector will be eliminated after a few years of the bill's enactment leaving only the government to run the health insurance program; and (2) services and procedures for senior citizens will be greatly curtailed to manage the costs of the system. My father had a hip replacement at 72 and a knee replacement at 75. He lived a active life until he passed away at 85. Without these procedures he would have been confined to a wheelchair. Under ObamaCare I probably won't be allowed to have these procedures. Make no mistake about it... the ability to get curative health care after age 70 will be difficult to get. You will be able to get some generic drugs to get by, (manage pain and marginally improve quality of life) but that's about it.
