I'll agree with the hatred of rich people. However I don't think they all pay their fair share of taxes. Or the corporations have tax shelters that many companies hide under. That is enough to make people mad. A flat tax would be fair.

You have elected Professional Haters, also known as senators and congress persons, who love to punish rich people. You steal their hard-earned money through the tax code. Please explain yourselves. (No, I am not rich. I am strictly middle-class). Did you know that rich people create jobs -- far more than any government program ever could? Did you know that the vast majority of rich people got that way through hard work, innovation and putting customers first? Why do you discriminate against rich people, making them pay far more than their fair share of taxes?

Mostly, the wealthy are hated because of that good ole human tradition: jealousy.
if you know me, but i dont know you, you have me at a disadvantage.

Hate is too strong a word at least in my case but when I see friends and relatives struggle to survive then I see people living a totally decadent lifestyle buying things that are completely frivolous and still having oodles of money left I do kinda resent it. Don't tell me to get out and work hard because I did for over 35 yrs and I saved what I thought was enough to see me through. Now prices and taxes are going through the roof. Ever day some company or utility are saying they have to raise their prices. I notice that the people who run these companies and utilities give their executives bigger and bigger bonuses so they can keep up with the cost of living though. Its not as simple as working hard and saving in a supply and demand economy because I have little control while these giant corps. can manipulate the supply and demand in a way it favors them

This is America. Land of the free. Free to work hard and get an education. And if very fortunate, be a part of that uppermost ONE PERCENT. Yeah, they are rich. Some inherited it. Most worked hard at getting it. The top ONE PERCENT (earning $307,500 yearly) in 2005 of all households paid 27.6 percent of all federal taxes, including 1. 38.8% of federal individual income taxes 2. 4.0% of federal social insurance taxes (Social Security & Medicare) 3. 58.6% of corporate income taxes 4. 5.5% of federal excise taxes (ex. tobacco, gasoline, alcoholic beverages, etc.) Hate them if you want. Chances are you are just envious. Or maybe just too lazy to try to make the top 50%.
