There has been a lot of noise in the media lately about vaccinations.I had tthe flu once as an 8 or 9 year old .Then when I enlisted in the Army  I had been in the Army for a few months and I came down with Pnuemonia and was sent home on convalescent leave after I was discharged from the hospital.The day after I reported back to duty  my company was lined up for flu shots .the next dauy I was back in the hospital with the Flu.The doctors said it was because my system was weak and they were using a live virus  vaccine so I caught it.well I have had a flu shot every year since,thats 61 years and have not had the flu since.Get your shots they work

I agree.
I am a heart patient and my cardiologist told me to get the shot. I have every year since the heart attack and I have never gotten the flu to date.

Same here, I've never had a flu shot and never had the flu.  My system is wierd
so I'm afraid to introduce anything to it.   I rarely get a sniffle.

The flu shot used today is not a live vaccine. The spray vaccine is live, but the one that is injected is a killed vaccine.
Also, if you are going to get one, you should wait until December/January time, the shot is only effective for a short time. If you get it early in the season, it is usually gone by the time flu season is at it's worse.
Also, keep in mind, if you are exposed to someone with a low immune system, newborn babies, or the elderly...you should get the shot not the spray.
I do not remember having the flu in about 10 years, I had to have the vaccine for the past 4 years because of my daughter's weak immune system. Our family usually waits until the end of December to receive it.

Thanks for the info, Moocow.
I always get mine the last of Nov.  It's
nice to know I've been doing it right
even though I didn't know why.:smileywink::smileyhappy:

I had never gotten the flu, until I got the flu shot.  I got the vaccine 2 years in a row and both of those years I got the flu...I haven't gotten the vaccine since and I haven't gotten the flu.

I was going to get one from the drive-in clinic last year, but they gave me a form to sign, which I read before signing (always a good thing, thank you Martha Stewart).  One of the possible side effects was a horrible crippling condition.  I decided I'd rather take my chances than get that...I have had numerous drug reactions all my life, so don't fancy having another one.  Now that I'm not teaching, I don't get exposed to everything like I used to, either.

They do work, however, they only work for about 3 months.  So if you get your flu shot in October, don't be overly shocked if you get the flu in February.  Find out what month flu season peaks in your area, and plan your shot accordingly.
