Hi people,
I still need an answer, why do people hunt ghosts? My sister and I have seen them most of our lives, and yet people thought we were crazy, why do people hunt ghosts? And why aren't more people cleansing the sites and helping them pass over? You can have the science, but what do you get out of it spiritually. One good site is The Myrtles Plantation in Lousiana. What I found so hilarilous was that when the ghost hunters were talking in one of the slave cabins, the lamp was moving across the table, and they did not even see it. :smileyvery-happy:

If I hunt something, it's to kill it. Ghosts are already dead. I chase them because I am curious about the whole paranormal experience and I find it very exciting. And why aren't more people cleansing the sites and helping them pass over? I don't know if I'm qualified to cleanse anything and I don't feel it is my duty/right to help them pass on especially if they don't want to go or haven't fulfilled their purpose for being here. You can have the science, but what do you get out of it spiritually. The only thing I can honestly find in a spiritual connection with chasing ghosts and spookies is my connection with God when I ask Him to watch over us (the group I belong to) and protect us while we conduct our investigation. Others in our group do the same thing but it goes along with their own personal beliefs.  One good site is The Myrtles Plantation in Lousiana. What I found so hilarilous was that when the ghost hunters were talking in one of the slave cabins, the lamp was moving across the table, and they did not even see it. :smileyvery-happy:
I hope my replies are helpful to you. As for the incident of the lamp moving in the slave cabin, I don't think I"m familiar with that particular occurance. Did you actually see it happen or was it on a TV show?

I call myself a "Ghost Hunter" because that is the most common term for what I do, but really I'm a "paranormal investigator" because not everything I encounter during an investigation is a ghost of some dead person.  As a matter of fact, most of the time it isn't.  The reason I do what I do is to help people who are experiencing strange or "paranormal" things deal with what's going on.  But also so I can understand too.

There is too much in this great big wonderful universe that I, or anyone else, just can't explain, and too many things that too many people try to explain but without consensus.  I investigate because I'd like to know what happens to that thing that makes us unique.  Call it a soul, call it a spirit, call it a top hat, it really doesn't matter.  None of us really know where it goes or what it does when the body dies.  I've head lots of theories, but I guess I'm still too much of a skeptic to rely on any one of them as definitive.

I know what I believe, and I've talked on this forum ad nauseum about it but those are just my beliefs,  I have no real proof of any of it, none of us do.  So, proof is ultimately what I'm hunting.  Not the ghosts, because to tell you the truth, if I just wanted to hang out with ghosts, I'd never leave my home.

As for the Myrtles Plantation, I've never investigated that site.  I've seen shows on TV about it, and heard conflicting stories about the ghosts who haunt the place.  I've even seen reports that the most common story of the slave who poisoned the children was fabricated.  But all I have to go on are these conflicting reports and based on that, I'd say it needs further and comprehensive investigation and serious historical documentation.

Hi bruiser,
Look, everything becomes a reality show nowadays. I saw the Myrtles plantation, and an authenitic spirit walk across the camera. That is on the show Ghost Hunters. But honestly, I am not so sure hunting ghosts is a good thing. No matter what you show, the world will not believe it. Its not as if everyone does not believe they exists. They have known these for centurys. And as far as helping them pass over it is the humane thing to do.

I honestly dont understand it either.  Do ppl realize the things that can follow them home?  How would you like it if you get tormented every night and couldnt sleep?  Or if you have kids and the kids are tormented and have "nightmares" or see "invisible friends"?   No thanks, I know that stuff is out there and I even know I have some abilities (even tho I repress everything at the moment).  You would definitely have to know how to protect yourself from that kind of thing, and even then it might not be enough.  Scary stuff to deal with in my opinion.

Hey and welcome, Sabs. Just to clear the air and let you know, my group and I'm sure many other groups out there, are heavily into asking God for protection. We also say a protection prayer asking St. Michael, the Archangel, to keep us safe and protected. We also do a ritual known as "Smudging" where white sage and sometimes other herbs are burned and the smoke from it helps to cleanse our souls, equipment and the area we're in of bad vibes and stuff. We do this before we go to an investigation and after it's over and sometimes even do it during an investigation if some of the members feel it necessary. We actually use many different protection rites from many different religious and spiritual beliefs. No, I don't believe in it all but i do respect the people who do and if they have something to offer the group by way of protection, then I have no problems in participating in it. As far as the spookies following us home? If they want to follow me home and see me in my underwear, that's their own business. I have faith in God and I know that He is watching over me and my family. Besides that, the spookies can't really hurt me. They're dead. I keep this in mind whenever I make contact. I did get entered into once and I know why it happened now and I have made the necessary adjustments so it will not happen again unless I allow it to.

Hi Bruiser,
Well it was on television, you know the show with the plumbers who own the group? They had their camera's set on them sitting in the dark, what was so funny was they were lying on the twin beds discussing why they were in the business in the first place. They had more material in this one haunting than they have ever had. They taped this last year, and also they had a wonderful shot of a spirit walking across the camera lense. It was awesome. Im not putting down that you are hunting ghosts, or chasing them. I am just puzzled why the sudden interest that people have, when they have always been around. Be aware that not all hauntings are ghosts, and pray if they are not they don't follow you home. Good luck with your hunting. Be aware that there are time loops, incidents also that never go away -not real haunts just left over emotion where something bad happens. Land can be haunted, houses, and people themselves. Just be careful, my sister says to clear a house to open the king james bible to psalm 23 light a candle leave that bibie open. And it should clear it. Also for protection of yourself is psalm 91. Blessed be. Susanwhitestar

Hi bruiser,
I am glad to hear that your trip went well, and the children had a great time. My son just was flown to Khandahar Afghanistan, to the hot spot, he says that is were the action is right now. I hope everyone had a great fourth of july, myself I am so worried that It doesnt feel like the fourth of July to me anymore. I pray for him, I know he has it together, he does have the sight so that should help him. But still in my heart I am mourning him leaving to the war. Its not a matter of what I believe in about the war, its my son, my only son, my heart I told him is in his hands, bring it back and be safe. So anyway, I don't know do they? I am a diabetic, so that I don't drink, but I imagine that your ghost hunting will go very good. I think that is why you are here on this earth, because there are a lot of people who do not believe the dimension spirits dwell in exist. Proof of life after death, after all most who do not believe only believe in what  they see. Man is a very visual animal ya know? Anyway it is good to see your back. Susanwhitestar
