Patrick we live in a world of four dimensions , three of those we pretty well have nailed. The forth is time. Time has four aspects , Past , Present , Future , And parallel . Of these we control none and can only see now. Modern string theory has an expanded view of physics in which there are eleven demensions with many overlaps. While we may not be able to explain what you saw, today , but maybe someday.

I was ten years old and at my grandparents house looking out the window of their porch into the backyard. My great grand-father appeared in the glass. The reflection only lasted about 5 seconds. I remember thinking to myself that it could not be a hallucination as the reflection appeared next to my own in the glass and that even though he had died a few months before I had not been thinking of him any time recently. He was smiling. I do not know what it meant. I never asked anyone as the is the first time I have ever mentioned it.
Homer Simpson may just be the most subtly profound intellect ever to be known.

Patrick, good idea for a post... very interesting indeed.  I have never seen a ghost with my eyes. But I do believe their is energy (spirits, if you wish) around us. For myself, there was a strange incident that occurred a few days after my Grandmother passed. It is too long of a story to go into here. Let me just say it left my family, who were present at the time, true believers that "something" does continue on once we leave our earthly bodies. My father, who in regards to this subject is very narrow minded, cannot dispel what happened concerning my Grandmother. He witnessed it himself and is unable to rationalize it to be anything other than what it was. Absolutely amazing! A famous author, Mitch Albom ("Tuesdays with Morrie", "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" etc) believes, as do I, our loved ones will visit us in our dreams. Many times they appear with you, smiling. They don't speak a word. They are just there to let you know they are still with you. But you awake knowing they were there with you, and it leaves you with a feeling of peace. I firmly believe this because it's happened to me, on more than one occasion. One time, it was one of my pets, who had died a week before. I don't believe in scientific evidence that attempts to dispel this as just a "phenomenon". If we are here now, whose to say that ceases just because our physical body has been vacated. If a person is open minded enough to accept that there is more to life than what can be seen or touched, anything is possible!
