Talking fighting out of the NHL is like taking part of the game away  I have been an avid hockey fan for years and I think that the owners and GM's who really believe that taking fighting out of the game would be a positive thing must really not have a clear picture of the game.

I like the game just the way it is meant to be played.

I do not agree that someone should take out another player on purpose, but fights happen.  don't ruin the game of hockey.

As  a fan of the NHL for over 50 years I think the only way to grow the sport we love is to get rid of fighting.  Many old fans like the fighting but would not leave if it were banned, but it will always be a distant 4th (unless soccer someday passes it) of changes are not made.  The recent changes to open it up are the first step.  This would be a good second.

Come on people, we watch the NFL for big hits, Nascar for the wrecks, and thats right hockey for the fights.  Whoever says they don't like fighting in hockey is either lying or not a true hockey fan

If your going to take fighting out of hockey you may as well take the ice out and just play soccer. Fighting puts buts in the stands take it out and you think times are tough now wait until you take fighting out of the game. Nobody will watch.

Look at the record crowds the Flyers set in opposing arena every night in the 1970's.  Many times standing room only tickets were even sold.  This is what fans want.  That team was a combination of skilled players and fighters.  Hockey will become like football where you can barely touch the qb without being called for a penalty.  The best hockey games to see are the ones where the refs let them play and not call every single infraction.

The presidents of the different leagues are way out in left field!!! I'm not sure who is worse, Bud Seilig, just because he is a plain idiot, or Bettman even coming up with an idea such as banning fighting in the nhl. I tell you what, eliminate fighting, eliminate fans!! Keep hockey pure, keep the fighting in play, and get rid of the crappy refereeing that is going on in the league. That is an issue that needs to be addressed!!! Go Sharks!!!!

If you want to improve the game of hockey and the overall viewer ship of the sport consider eliminating Gary Bettman, the neutral zone trap, eliminate 6 teams as there isn't enough talent to support all the teams, adopt an Olympic sized rink as the players are so big and so fast, and the game will improve as will viewer ship and the guys that fight had better be able to also pass, shoot and score.  The game only needs a few quality tweaks and the above would be a big step.  But with basketball boy running the league it's height of popularity has passed and will never recover to it's once storied level of success.  If I hear make the goals bigger and the goalie equipment smaller one more time I might scream.

It never seams to surprise me the amount of IGNORANCE in America.  "We watch hockey for fighting", "If you don't like fighting in hockey your not a true hockey fan".  Bravo!  The "Ultimate Fighting" crowd has voiced there opinion of how crucial fighting is in the game of hockey.  What a bunch of BS!!!!!  I wish fans like this would just go away.  Hockey is such a fast, powerful, intense sport that takes such incredible talent, let the game speak for itself.  Fighting in hockey should be a thing of the past.  If you need to get your fix of seeing to idiots bash each others face in, then go watch UFC.  I could go on and on about this subject, but let me just say this.  Do you see fighting in other sports?  If a lineman or WR takes a cheap shot in football, do they rip there helmets off and go at it?  Not a chance.  Why?  Because they would get kicked out of the game or possibly worse.  So why do we allow players in hockey to settle there differences on the ice, during a game, with virtually no ramifications?  The idea of allowing players to "police" themselves, or "protect" there players is assinine.  That's what the refs are for.  And if the refs aren't doing it,(which frankly they aren't) then replace them or change the way they ref.  Make the game better, faster, cleaner and I guarantee the viewers will come.  And to the gentleman who swore he would never watch a game or go to a game if they got rid of fighting, good ridance, take all your buddies with you and go to a UFC match!!

If you take fighting out of hockey then you take hockey out of me.  I'LL NEVER WATCH IT AGAIN!!!  If you don't like fighting in hockey don't watch it!!!!   What's next?  Will they get rid of boxing or Ultimate Fighting?  Why don't they eliminate that sport were the drive around in a circle at 200 mph were someone can bump there car and they can crash into the wall.  Drivers in the Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks can be seriously injured or killed when they crash.  Get rid of Hockey in the south were they don't understand it anyhow and put some more teams in Canada or a team in Wisconsin.

LEAVE HOCKEY ALONE!!!!!
